You need to create an opportunity to spend time with yourself. This time proves invaluable as it allows you to reflect on what’s happening in your life and the actions you’ve taken to get to where you are today. It’s often through this reflection that we begin to see patterns that influence our direction. And we often discover that our strengths are buried away in these patterns.
The unfortunate fact is that many of us spend so little time with ourselves. Even when we’re alone, we fill the silence with television, music, or whatever distraction we can get our hands on. This prevents the mind from exploring who you are because it’s getting pulled away from the questions we need to ask ourselves.
My revelation about my strength didn’t come from reading books or watching videos on the internet. It came when I was sat at my desk, alone, taking a moment to think about how I could move forward in my career. It was also in this quiet space that the idea for the Identity Framework materialised and I started my introduction for my book.
So do schedule that ‘quiet time’ for yourself today.
