Decidophobia

No change can occur in a person’s life unless they first decide to create and embrace change. You have to make a decision today in order to seek your higher purpose and calling in life.

What you may not know is that there is a clinical term that we can apply to the fear of making decisions – Decidophobia.

Psych Times describes the condition as follows:

“Decidophobia is the irrational fear of making decisions. Someone suffering from this condition can expect to experience a very high amount of anxiety from merely thinking of making decisions, let alone actually doing so. In fact, their anxiety may be so intense that they may even endure a full-blown panic attack as a result of it.”

To overcome decidophobia, you must first understand what causes it. This inability to make decisions is one of the most troubling barriers to overcome as you journey towards your higher purpose. After all, to stand any chance of realising your potential and having an impact on the world, you must first decide what you want to do, how you will do it, and, most importantly, that you are the person who will create this impact.

Empowerment may be the most important word when developing your ability to make decisions. It is your courage that empowers you to overcome the fear that prevents so many from making important choices in life. It is your sense of meaning that empowers you to push forward and follow through on the decisions that you make.

The capacity to make decisions has a deep impact on your ability to define and follow your higher purpose. After all, your journey begins with the choice to take the first step.
